How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
Evaluation questions 2: Audiences & Distribution; How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
Final Work
As you can see I have made changes to the anchorage text and highlighted the JVL section. This creates a stand alone effect and attracts readers as well as link it to a brand called JBL which is a hardware producer company. To do this I have went against my black and white theme, however this makes more sense to me, to show a mixture of old style and technology. vintage b & l, the red will create uniqueness and give off a dangerous feel to it as because red can mean danger. Another reason is to make the audiences feel a sense of "change" and how technology makes such a difference even on a vintage magazine.
This links with the cover page, but this shows it in a clearer way. From the colors you can imagine a rainbow but instead its circles, I have meant to show lights and the effect technology has changed the way and how colors change from red to pale colours.

DPS context
He said that he respected kayōkyoku (Japanese style pop music) but we
told him he was wrong. His music contained something that was new, epic and
unknown to tradition.
“I wanted something more!” He spoke in a furious temper. We
all noticed that we shouldn’t have touched that topic but we wanted to know
why; why was his music so different? 3 years after leaving back number, Mr Takahashi left on a journey to travel around the
world, to see different sights, in a different environment. “I came back with
something…” we didn’t know what he meant at first, but after releasing this bestselling
album we all knew something must have happened, something that would scar the
Japanese music history.
After his major return, we went to Miss Ogiso Setsuna who
was his fiancé before he left on his journey. We asked her a question seeking
information about what he did while he was away. She answered, “I knew nothing.”
She said averting her eyes with a tremble in her voice. We knew there was
something; we knew something had happened.
Months later we received an unknown threat from someone who
didn’t want us to research the topic. We were taken aback from what happened,
our superiors told us to stop researching and most of my team members left the
music industry to escape the threat.
I was alone, alone and was the only one left who wanted to
know the truth behind his change. I knew that I shouldn’t do this, but I wanted
to know, I had to know, I wanted to be someone whose name would be in history.
I was broke and unemployed after months of pursuing the truth. “What did I do
wrong!” I shouted, left in the darkness ever alone. But I saw a light, hope
reached out to me in the human form of Mr Takahashi.
That day was the moment I will never forget. He reached out to me and I took his hand.
Before I knew it I was in a room. It was dark and I couldn’t see anything, but
I could hear the voice, his voice reaching to me. “Fine?” he asked.
“Yes” I replied. That was the last thing I heard.
After a blank space of time, I could sense a change, and I
heard a loud voice “Bam!”
“Yuki!” I shouted. It was a song, a song I was really
familiar with, it’s them. HI hats, guitar, bass lastly his voice played a
harmony of instruments. The next thing I knew was that I felt that my eyes were
hurting, it was tears, how long have I waited for this moment, how long have we've been waiting for them.

DPS Project
This is the picture I took originally, and as you can see in
the second screen shot, I have completely deleted the background and changed it
to black instead and also made the image black and white because all my pages
are done in black and white. The reason I chose a black background this time
was to increase variety, and to gave a surprise to the audience, but my main
reason would be that blues associates with the ‘dark’ a dark room playing music
kind of thing. However the reason to why the bottom picture looks different is because I have made changes by putting in extra effort such as increasing the exposure and vibrance to make the image seem more, 'rough' kind of feel.
In this shot, I have added a title for my dps, this associates directly with the contents page, because the headlines is the same as well as the page number, this is to make sure that they are from the same magazine. Fonts used are exactly the same, blues..... mast head font, footer exactly the same as the contents page. And here I wanted some more variation so I included the japanese name of the band, well it is red as backnumber.
And as you can see I have include a quotation below the heading to make the article seem more reliable and realistic to the reader, this will make them think that this is actually about the actual band and have been research thoroughly.
In this last one you will see on the top left I have included the same font as the content page of 'japan' and also included the 'international' sub, the reason I decided to this this was again to keep the styles constant and reliable.

Reflection for context page
After analyzing my own contents page and asking for further feedback I have found out that my model image seems to be a little off to what audiences prefer. Most of them mentioned that the model used for the image doesn't seem suitable to the piano and the background that surrounds it. Instead it might be better to use an image that doesn't contain a model, which will be more suitable to the page because the other 2 images is off non model, after changing the image I believe that audience's reaction will improve due to stability of picture types.
As for my layouts, it is preferable to keep them same as the reactions given by audience were quite great in response. They mentioned that it looked really professional as the template used was from a similar kind of magazine, simply it looked familiar to them and not something out of place for them.
And mistakes I made were the page number constants, as I changed most of the numbers to even numbers, because this suggests that they are all double page spreads and the last section which contains odd numbers clearly separates the context of music and business. Audiences reactions to this was quite good as well because it gave them a clear idea of that the earlier pages will be business and the rest will be music related.
Fonts and text size as well as types were good and simple, audience really liked the idea that they are in a houses type which made it seem more reliable as a higher class magazine, however when compared to the first cover page even though fonts are the same the fact that this is black and white and the cover is color gave audiences a bad impact, as so I decided to make every work I make black and white. After having made the changes most audiences mentioned that house style is constant and looks like they are from the same magazine by eye recognition even not confirming from the footer where the masthead name is there. And I guess I did forget to put in a page number in the footer so I will also put a page number probably on the right side as well as move some parts to the right side.
And as you can see, here is the final version of it, I have made changes to the footer to include, a contact website and have included the issue number which relates to a vintage number. However i decided not to change my first image, this is because even if it doesn't really suit well with the other pictures, I decided that it is fine that way, because entirely my main model is Jessie, so there is a point in making her stand out, and it does not seem out of place because the cover page also contains her.
And also in addition I have also made some changes to my cover page, and have made it into black and white and not colour instead, mainly this is because my magazine's house style is vintage. In the good old days I believe that they were no colour magazines just yet.
